The role of Nominated Medical Advisers

Every employer of workers at a coal mine is required to appoint a nominated medical adviser, usually shortened to just “NMA”.

The NMA is a doctor whose main role is to undertake the regular medical assessment.

The role of the NMA is prevention and early detection of work-related illness.
